So the elephant in the room will tell you that Nas and HSTRY’s new line of Kneeling Santa ugly Christmas sweaters are piggybacking off the trend set by 2 Chainz last year (and to the present day). But thankfully, that’s not where the imitation stops.
A portion of the proceeds from the Kneeling Santa Christmas ugly Christmas sweaters will benefit The Center for Court Innovation. The initiative, which was launched in 1993 in New York City, was created to find balance in the justice system and ensure the rehabilitation process actually followed through with its promises.
According to the official website, “The Center for Court Innovation’s work begins with a commitment to data and analysis. The Center studies problems within communities and within government systems. It uses this information to inform the development of demonstration projects. Researchers from the Center also conduct process and impact evaluations to document what works and what doesn’t in justice reform.”
Throughout his career, Nas has been especially vocal on the plight of misguided and impoverished inner-city inhabitants (see his 1998 record “Ghetto Prisoners” for ample context) and his HSTRY line has been carving a lane in specializing in quirky and creative collaborations. Similar to how they did with the Ghostbusters reboot this past summer.
