As Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater prepares to host the 2017 People’s Choice Awards on January 18, the nominees have been released and span across several different categories, including Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Hip Hop Artist, Favorite R&B Artist, Favorite Album, and Favorite Song. Drake and The Weeknd both racked up nominations for Favorite Male Artist, while Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar were listed in the Favorite Hip Hop Artist category.
Drake, of course, has had a phenomenal year in terms of awards. He earned 12 Soul Train Award nominations, 14 BET Hip Hop Award nominations and beat Michael Jackson for the most American Music Award nominations with a record 13.
In terms of Favorite New Album (not surprisingly), Drake’s VIEWS and Beyonce’s LEMONADE were named as two of the five contenders, along with Rihanna’s Anti, Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman and Blake Shelton’s If I’m Honest.
Veteran Hip Hop artist and actor LL Cool J, who just celebrated the 31st anniversary of his debut album, Radio, was also nominated for Favorite TV Crime Drama Actor for his role on NCIS: Los Angeles. 50 Cent’s Power was also given a nod for Favorite Premium Drama series. The award ceremony begins at 9 p.m. EST on CBS. Find a partial list of nominees below and full list here.
