With today’s (November 4) release of The Ebony Power 100, a number of Hip Hoppers have been awarded top honors on behalf of Ebony magazine.

Queensbridge wordsmith Nas, who played a vital role in the creation of the Netflix series The Get Down, was named as one of the honorees. The New York City spitter will also be featured on one of four different covers for The Ebony Power 100 issue.

Rapper/activist Killer Mike and Donald Glover, an artist who created arguably one of the best new shows of 2016 with Atlanta, also made it on to Ebony’s list as well as Chance The Rapper and Lupe Fiasco.

Additionally, The Weeknd, Beyonce, Kevin Hart, Colin Kaepernick, and Michael Jordan are among the other entertainers honored by Ebony for their noteworthy achievements, and ability to change the course of history through their actions. Neil deGrasse Tyson, the astrophysicist who dispelled B.o.B’s theory that the Earth is flat, is also featured.

“These 100 individuals are not only authoring their own success stories, they are leveraging their platforms in order to improve various facets of Black life and render us visible on the world stage,” Kyra Kyles, Editor-in-Chief, Senior Vice President and Head of Digital Editorial at Ebony, said in a statement. “We feature Nas who is employing brown people to tell the true story of Hip Hop in The Get Down and Ava DuVernay, giving voice to the voiceless through her mass incarceration documentary, 13th…Power is nothing if it is not shared.”
