In a show-stealing move, Houston chanteuse Beyonce teamed up with the Dixie Chicks for a performance of the LEMONADE track “Daddy Lessons” during last night’s (November 2) CMA Awards.
While the performance from the quartet was dubbed as being slay-worthy by Beyonce enthusiasts, how did country music’s biggest stars react?
Prior to the airing of the awards show, country crooner Brad Paisley welcomed a performance from Beyonce.
“Frequently, country crosses over. But every now & then a major pop superstar wants to be a part of this too. Welcome, Beyoncé.#cmaawards50,” Paisley tweeted.
Although a majority of country stars reacted positively to the performance, singer Kenny Chesney caught a slight dragging from social media due to his straight-faced reaction to Beyonce and the Dixie Chicks’ performance.
Following the CMA Awards performance, the Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines thanked Beyonce, and later recalled previously vowing never to perform at the awards show again.
“Ok! I can finally talk about one of the greatest weeks of my life! Thank you @Beyonce ! You slay. All day…I’m pretty sure I’ve uttered the sentence, ‘I will never perform on the CMA’s again as long as I live.’ And then came [Beyonce] :),” Maines wrote in two separate tweets.
Additional reactions to Beyonce and the Dixie Chicks’ “Daddy Lessons” performance are below.

So we can keep misrepresenting American sentiment and allowing people to live in a dream world? The comments should be representative of the prevailing opinion from that demographic.

Did you know the Grand Ole Port was name for the black man that performed there wkly b4 your butt was even a glint in your daddy’s eye! What, black people sung country? Yeah they did & still do! Why wasn’t Justin Timberlake criticized for performing w/Chris Stapleton? Huh! We’re not throwing shade on Taylor Swift or Mily Sirus & their played on black stations all the time. Every year the BET awards have Timberlake, Joss Stone, Alan Thicke, & other Caucasians perform @ the awards. We can’t get enough of Chris Stapleton because that man can sing. He needs to just come over to the dark side! ?????
Grand Old POrt. My spell check is horrible.
looks like beyonce dropped the dreaded cornrows to go back to looking like a white woman with blond hair again lol such an opportunist
Why is that whit girl !!! You a Fucking idiot

Kenny Chesney is trying so hard to not start twerking and screaming “YAAAAS QUEEN” and flipping his (pretend) hair and outing himself.
Only people living in a fantasy world are white people like you.
Kenny is just jealous that he’s not in King HOV’s shoes with a smoking hot wife.
