Def Jam subsidiary, Roc La Famila, looks set to launch with the debut album from reggaeton artist Hector ‘El Father’ Bambino, reports Billboard.
The album, entitled Roc La Familia & Hector Bambino ‘El Father’ Present Los Rompe Discotekas, is due out on June 20, 2006, and features guest appearances by the likes of Fat Joe, Memphis Bleek and Freeway, as well as reggaeton’s Don Omar, Wisin Y Yandel and Alexis Y Fido.
Formed by Def Jam in July 2005, Roc La Familia was created as a label for other world genres, such as reggae, reggaeton, calypso and West Indian music.
“World music has evolved, it now blends contemporary styles such as hip hop, rock and electronica with traditional and roots music,” told Def Jam president, Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter. “Hector blends genres and brings real stories and messages to the listener.”

The first single from Bambino’s LP is Here We Go Yo.
The Puerto Rican rapper has been rapping for some time now, starting his career in the mid-90s as half of the Latin rap duo, Hector & Tito. They released A La Reconquista in 2002, and won the 2003 Billboard Latin Music Award for Latin Rap Album of the Year.
Since going solo, Bambino has also won accolades for his own work, winning Reggaeton Song of the Year 2006 for his appearance on Baby Rank’sMayor Que Yo, which also featured Daddy Yankee, Tonny Tun Tun and Wisin Y Yandel.
