With the White House at his disposal for the next couple of months until Hillary Clinton takes over as the upcoming presidential election will decide the next occupants, President Barack Obama is ensuring he goes out with a bang after eight years in office as commander-in-chief.
And apparently, that means throwing parties of epic proportions with all his Hip Hop friends.
Last night at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW, several celebrities packed the halls of the White House for BET’s Love and Happiness: A Musical Experience, which would serve as the grand finale for concerts during Obama’s tenure. According to ABC News, The “no-phone policy” was in full effect, just like previous shindigs as guests had to pass through three security checkpoints and surrender their cellphones to brown paper bags until the end of the night.
That didn’t prevent Questlove from taking to Instagram to recall the events with his own hilarious perception. The Roots’ bandleader compiled plenty of incredible randomness to make everyone who read his social media musings feel like they were right there in the room(s). This includes the First Family being on “CP time” and Dave Chappelle caring more about the fact he got to play with Bo the family dog above anything that happened throughout the event.

“Realist real list of thangs I seenT at the White House tonight: 10) the cp time factor of the first fam. Made me feel justified,” Questlove wrote as he ran down the rest of the list.

Jill Scott, Samuel L. Jackson, Jesse Williams, Angela Bassett, Janelle Monáe, Yolanda Adams, Michelle Williams and Kiki Sheard were also all in attendance for the event that transpired on the South Lawn.
The president expressed “bittersweetness” as he addressed the partygoers while thanking them and BET, while tossing out a few jokes for ‘ol times sake.

“I will be honest, this is one of the perks of the job I will miss most, along with Air Force One — and Marine One,” he quipped.
“But you know if you can just call up Usher and say, ‘Hey, come on over to my house and sing with us’ or call up Janelle Monáe and say, ‘We need a little extra something, here.’ It doesn’t get any better than that.”
He also turned his attention to Chappelle and told him, “Dave, you have your own block party. This is my block party.”
A rogue camera phone managed to catch President Obama getting down to Drake’s “Hotline Bling” sometime during the celebration as well.
