Los Angeles, CA

Murs has successfully completed his goal of rapping for more than 24 hours straight (minus the five-minute breaks he was allowed each hour), starting yesterday morning and ending today (October 13).

In the span of the day, the Los Angeles rapper performed his own tracks as well as other popular rap songs from Tupac, A Tribe Called Quest and Wu-Tang Clan. He ended the final stretch with a freestyle.

“Fuck it I’m outta here have a nice life everyone,” he concludes with a hoarse voice, referring to his last album, Have a Nice Life.

Murs was allowed a five-minute break each hour and had representatives on site at the studio in Los Angeles where he performed to ensure the Guinness World Record guidelines were followed.

Straight after completing the gargantuan task, the Strange Music signee dropped the video for “Rick Grimes is Dead” via Twitch.

Murs announced this summer that he was attempting the day-long feat in a partnership with Boost Mobile. He held various #WYALA events featuring performances and live interviews in Los Angeles building up to the marathon.

In another rap marathon record, Miami MC Pablo Alvarez freestyled for 25 hours in July. He is in the process of having the record for longest freestyles session confirmed by Guinness.
