“Maybe I should be appreciated for what I’ve done because I’ve done so much but when you into doing and into giving, you don’t look at what you doing or what you’re giving; you continuously do what you know how to do.

“So it’s kind of hard for me to step back and say ‘Give me a lifetime achievement award because I’ve done a lifetime worth of work.’ No, I feel like my life is still rolling and I’m still doing more work.”

These are the thoughts and views of Bigg Snoop Dogg, when asked whether or not his legend should be celebrated as his career keeps hitting new strides and milestones. At 44, his name has been ubiquitous with rap music in a myriad of sects (gangsta, party, popular, etc.) and his status of a brand continues to grow each year — sort of like his favorite plant. Although he’s the latest rap icon to receive BET’s I Am Hip Hop Award (presented to him by none other than Kendrick Lamar at that), he makes it clear that no accolade will slow his hustle.

HipHopDX caught up with Snoop and his MTV Mary + Jane co-stars Jessica Rothe and Scout Durwood out in Los Angeles, to discuss the “highly” liberal series to which the creator of Coolaid serves as an executive producer. With weed always on the brain, he named the faces that he feels should appear atop Hip Hop’s “Mt. Kushmore” (one inclusion will definitely surprise you) while praising the cast members of the budding TV show.

“It’s a perfect situation,” Snoop said of his executive producer role. “Great writers [Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont], a great network, my expertise, two great actresses: why not, not why.”

New episodes of Mary + Jane happen on Mondays at 10/9c. Click here to subscribe to MTV and what Uncle Snoop’s latest DXclusive up above.
