Drake Breaks Michael Jackson’s 32-Year Record For Most American Music Award Nominations

Since the top of the year, Drake has been breaking records left and right with no signs of slowing down as he dethrones Michael Jackson’s American Music Award record for the most nominations.

The King of Pop previously held the mark with 11 nods in 1984 for Thriller and his popular classics “Beat It” and “Billie Jean” and he won all 11 of the awards.

The 6 God leads all 2016 American Music Awards nominees with 13 nods. He received selections in the categories for Artist of the Year, Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Rap Artist, Favorite Rap Song, Favorite R&B song, Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Album, Favorite Pop Album and Favorite Album for his multi-Platinum work VIEWS and joint Future album What A Time To Be Alive, among others.

Rihanna and the OVO boss’s collaborative single “Work” gets a few nods as well. RiRi comes in right behind Drizzy with 7 AMA nominations.

Drake is also slated to go up against his “Too Good” partner for Artist of the Year along with Adele, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Twenty One Pilots, Carrie Underwood and former OVO affiliate The Weeknd.

The Artist of the Year nominees will be narrowed down to only five based on fan votes received from Monday, November 14 to Thursday, November 17. Ambitious fans can vote for all categories once per day.

For New Artist of the Year Un-leashed by T-Mobile, fans can vote 100 times per day, per platform at AMAvote.com or by posting a tweet that includes the nominee’s Twitter handle, the category name and #AMAs within the post.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place November 20 at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles and will air on ABC 8 p.m. EST.

        1. YO DRAG FIEND YOU DO NO THAT THE ONLY WAY TO BE TOP 5 IS TO WRITE YOUR OWN LYRICS DRAKE PUSSY ASS DONT SO HE CANT BE TOP 5 HE CANT EVEN BE CALLED A MC BUT YOU CAN CALL HIM A POP STAR OR A PUPPET RAPPER

    1. Why is the 6God not nominated for Alternativ Rock Artist?? I mean, he is already nominated for Pop/Rnb and Rap Artist. how is that possible anyway?? Did he drop more than 1 Album??

    2. REMEMBER, ONLY THIS COUNTS: The RECORD for most American Music Awards WON is held by Michael Jackson, who has amassed twenty-six (26) awards, including one for “ARTIST of the Century”!!!

Even if he wins every award, he won’t come close to the record the King of Pop still holds for a total 26 AMAs won. And unlike Jackson, there’s pretty much no way Drake will ever win “Artist of the Century.”
So don’t fret—M.J.’s still the king.

    3. and taylor swift has two grammys. question is, should we give a flying fuck about these corrupted music awards?

    4. idgaf how many awards Drake is nominated for or wins..his music just aint timeless..i know ppl from their 60s down to teenie boppers that sing along to Michael Jackson..sorry but choice lyrics like “hotline bling’ wont stand the test of time…in fact u know how when u was younger and u liked whatever came out cuz it was popular, but when u got older and finally found what sound ur looking for you go “man i cant believe i used to listen to that shit”…thats what drake will be.

    5. This Drake clown could sell a trillion albums and break all sorts of records, I don’t give a fuck, homie. Dude will always be WACK to my ears.
