New York, NY – Fifteen years ago on this day, many lives were lost and many heroes were made during the attacks on New York City’s World Trade Center. Many notables in the Hip Hop community, including Fabolous, Desiigner and Trinidad James have taken to social media to remember that fateful day on September 11, 2001.

“Our city & country was forced to stand tall as those Towers once did & always remember the fallen soldiers of this day,” Fab captioned on Instagram. “The date 9/11 will always be symbolic to me for more reasons than one… My condolences go to the families affected by this tragic event. And my respect & appreciation goes to the many who helped saved lives & repair our city in its aftermath.”

HipHopDX’s Brand Ambassador and New York native Justin Hunte also recounted that day and expressed what it means to him, captioning an Instagram picture of himself at Ground Zero in 2006.

“I went to #GroundZero to protest before heading to my Corporate American cubicle,” The Company Man wrote. “But when I arrived I saw something I naively didn’t expect to see: Pain. Families mourning loved ones. Soldiers saluting their fallen comrades. My entire temperament flipped 180 degrees almost immediately. 25-year old TCM grew up substantially in that moment. Rest in power to all who’ve lost their lives fighting America’s wars, whether justified or otherwise.”

This image was taken on 9/11/2006 and appeared in the #DailyNews the following morning. The night before I attended a #LooseChange fundraiser questioning the state's narrative on how the terrorist attacks really happened. The guy in front of me has on an "Investigate 9/11" tshirt. I have the same one in the Northface I'm rocking. #PublicEnemy's #FightThePower is bumping in my ear buds. I went to #GroundZero to protest before heading to my Corporate American cubicle. But when I arrived I saw something I naively didn't expect to see: Pain. Families mourning loved ones. Soldiers saluting their fallen comrades. I remember being a kid and 9/11 being a moment in my life. I was in Atlanta and I remember being in class and everyone having a Cold feeling in there heart like someone in your family just got shot. The air taste different. I was so young I couldn't understand what was happening. The fact that the U S was under attack. As I got older each year it became more and more of a reality to me of the importance of unity. That was a time when whether you were black or white or Spanish or Asian you knew that a lost is a lost. Moments like these bring people together. So that shows me that it is possible for us to come together. Just gotta be more consistent with the love. You can't be selective with respect. From ?? with Love . God Bless the towers. ??
