Los Angeles, CA

The Game continues on his voyage to put an end to inner-city violence with the promotion of unity in a new public service announcement featuring Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck.

In a 48-second PSA clip posted to the LAPD‘s official Twitter account, the police chief recited some staggering statistics about the L.A. community.

“Last year in the city of Los Angeles, almost a thousand people were shot,” Beck says. “Almost 300 of them died. 80 percent of the victims, and 80 percent of the shooters, were young men of color.”

For the past couple of weeks, both The Game and Snoop Dogg have committed their available time to promoting peace in the streets. After leading a prally to meet with the LAPD, they held a summit to unite all the local gangs to help figure out how to become better role models for the younger generation. A cease-fire treaty was also signed between the Bloods and the Crips.

“We have to be more positive,” The Game says in the PSA. “We have to stop killing one another. Let’s unite. Stop the violence. Be the change.”

On Friday (July 22), Chief Beck and Mayor Eric Garcetti are expected to discuss L.A.’s mid-year crime statistics as the city takes the lead in showing America how change can be made.

This is just one of many ways The Game has stepped up to give back to the city that raised him. On Wednesday (July 21), the Compton native helped a mother of eight children buy $1,000 worth of groceries for his “Yo Mama, My Mama” campaign with PartnersInKynd.
