Lil’ Kim will be a free woman this summer, according to her lawyer, Mel Sachs.
Kim, who began serving her 366-day sentence last September, is allegedly preparing for an early release from the Philadelphia Federal Detention Centre in Pennsylvania, reports ContactMusic.
“A year and a day is actually less than a one-year sentence because, under the federal rules and the federal sentencing system, if there’s an extra day, you get time credited to you,” explained Sachs.
“So Kim will be out in late spring or early summer.”

Meanwhile, Kim has revealed her trauma at being behind bars in a personal letter to model-turned-presenter Tyra Banks, which was read on Banks’ talk show Wednesday.
“No matter how good I am in here, this is no place for women to be – or anyone for that matter,” read the letter. “It has its trying times and stressful moments – it’s very unsanitary – and can be very depressing, especially around the holidays.”
Kim also revealed in the letter that she goes to church service every Sunday and Bible studies every Tuesday.
While Kim is said to be coping fairly well under the circumstances, she was forced to remove her hair extensions and fake nails at the start of her incarceration, because they are banned in prison.

“For the most part, all the girls on my [cell] block are cool; being away from your family and loved ones is the worst part of being locked up,” concluded Kim.
Lil’ Kim was jailed after admitting that she lied to a grand jury in an investigation into a shooting outside New York’s Hot 97 radio station in 2001.
