Even after a 10 per cent reduction in the numbers on Drake’s Views, no one could dethrone the album from the top spot of the Billboard 200 album chart. Drizzy has ruled for seven weeks straight now, the first man to do that in 16 years.

Neither Nick Jonas’ new album nor the push Hip Hop musical Hamilton got from its 11 Tony Awards could overcome the Toronto superstar.

Drake almost doubled his closest competition, putting up 121,000 equivalent album units to Nick Jonas’ 66,000 on the July 2-dated chart.

The bulk of that total came from 74,000 streaming equivalent units — each unit equals 1,500 streams, so the songs from the album generated about 110.5 million listens in a week in the U.S. The rest came from 27,000 traditional album sales and 21,000 in track equivalent albums (one unit for each 10 songs downloaded off the album), says Billboard. Overall, the album’s numbers were down 10 per cent for the week.

Drake’s seven-week streak at the top is the first time a man has done that since Eminem did with The Marshall Mathers LP in 2000. That album stayed in the top spot for eight weeks straight.

Eminem also had the most recent record for non-consecutive weeks at the top by a man, with seven for his 2010 Recovery album.
