This week in Hip Hop, Lil Wayne suffered a seizure during a flight from Milwaukee to California. The private jet that Weezy was travelling on was forced to perform an emergency landing in Omaha, Nebraska. The Young Money rapper was subsequently taken to the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha where he was released the following day. Elsewhere this week, the City of Oakland declared June 16 as “Tupac Shakur Day” in honor of what would have been the rapper’s 45th birthday.
Lil Wayne Suffers Seizure Mid-Flight; Forces Emergency Landing
Lil Wayne’s private jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Omaha, Nebraska earlier this week after Weezy suffered from a seizure during the flight. The plane was flying from Milwaukee to California when it was forced to land.
The Young Money rapper was scheduled to appear at E3 conference in Los Angeles this week to promote his new Sqvad Up mobile game.

The following day (June 14), Lil Wayne was released from the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Weezy also took to Twitter to thank his fans for their support while he was recovering.
“thanx for all the prayers!! I love y’all,” he tweeted.
It was later reported that Lil Wayne allegedly consumed three bottles of codeine during a club appearance the night before the incident. It was reported that Weezy toted around five, 16-ounce bottles of the cough syrup at The Eight Nightclub in Milwaukee.
However, Lil Wayne later told TMZ that the drug did not cause the seizures. He did, nevertheless, say that he did not take his medication for epilepsy, a neurological disorder characterized by seizures.

The rapper’s team says that he ran out of his meds and, when he tried to get a refill at a pharmacy in Milwaukee, they did not have the prescription drugs. Weezy thought he would be ok without the medicine for a few days, but recent events proved opposite.
A day after his release from hospital, Lil Wayne made a surprise performance at the Samsung booth at E3 Expo 2016 in support of his mobile skateboarding game.
Lil Wayne performed a medley of 15 songs at the gaming expo including “Truffle Butter,” “I’m Going In” and Grammy Award-winning song “Lollipop.” The crowed sang along to Weezy F. Baby’s hits as six skateboarders performed tricks behind the New Orleans rapper while demoing Samsung’s latest technology.
