Funeral Of Irving Plaza Victim Ronald “Banga” McPhatter Held In Brooklyn

Ronald “Banga” McPhatter was laid to rest Saturday (June 4) in Brooklyn at Brown Memorial Baptist Church, located at 484 Washington Ave, more than a week after the Irving Plaza shooting left him as the sole fatality.

Three others were also injured after gunfire broke out backstage before the T.I. concert could kick off on May 25. McPhatter was an affiliate and bodyguard of Troy Ave’s BSB outfit. He was later pronounced dead at Beth Israel Hospital after being shot in the chest during the melee. Troy Ave was also shot and arrested at the NYU Langone Hospital before being charged with attempted murder and gun charges as a suspect in the shooting. Surveillance footage featured the “Doo Doo” rapper allegedly shooting at an unspecified target at the venue. A gun recovered in the car that transported Ave (real name Roland Collins) to the hospital was later reported to be a match for the one that fatally shot Banga.

The cause of the shooting was originally reported to be between Troy Ave and Maino before the “Hi Hater” rapper denied those claims and the NYPD officially cleared him of any wrongdoing in the case.

Scott Leemon, lawyer for Troy Ave, is seeking help from the public in getting the charges dropped. Most recently, Ave dropped “Chuck Norris (Hoes & Gangstas)” as he was denied bail for his role in the shooting.

    1. R.I.P. Banga. On another subject, whoever made that celebration for life program on Twitter needs to adjust it. It should say gifts should be accepted not excepted. Don’t want this man looking silly at his own funeral with typos like that.
