Looking to live some history this summer? The legendary group Kool & The Gang announced its “Keeping The Funk Alive Tour” yesterday (May 17) via press release.

The “Keeping The Funk Alive Tour” is scheduled to hit eight stops throughout the United States, starting July 22 in Charlotte, North Carolina and ending August 28 in Los Angeles.

Touring with Kool & The Gang is slated to be a “variety support lineup from their friends Bootsy’s Rubber Band, Morris Day & the Time, Doug E. Fresh and Big Daddy Kane.”

Kool & The Gang, a two-time Grammy Award winner, has influenced today’s music through its 50 years of soul and pop. Its hit songs include “Celebration,” “Jungle Boogie” “Hollywood Swinging” and “Too Hot.” The group received a Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.

“Kool & the Gang is the most sampled band in hip hop and their musical message is sure to be heard for generations to come,” the press release says.

Doug E. Fresh and Big Daddy Kane made an impact in Hip Hop through their innovative styles. Doug E. Fresh became known as the first human beatbox and helped launch the careers of the likes of Slick Rick through the Get Fresh Crew. Big Daddy Kane released seven albums through his decade-long career and was known for his sharp lyricism.
