Lumberton, N.C.

Afeni Shakur, the mother of Tupac Shakur, passed away on May 2 at the age of 69. A memorial service to celebrate her life is now slated to be held in her hometown of Lumberton, North Carolina, the NYDailyNews has learned.

The service will be held on a farm where Shakur grew up before she famously moved to New York to become a member of the Black Panthers.

Her body was cremated in Marin County, California and the remains were claimed by her estranged husband Gust Davis shortly after her death.

Despite their pending divorce, former Warner Bros. CEO Tom Whalley is the executor of a trust that holds the rights to his music. Davis’ name is not listed anywhere in the trust. This tidbit should prove extremely useful, especially with the upcoming biopic, All Eyez on Me on the horizon.
