Fresh from his triple Grammy win, Kanye West is set to add his golden touch to the theme song for the new Mission Impossible movie.

West will follow in the footsteps of U2 and Limp Bizkit, who updated the classic theme song for the previous two Mission Impossible films.

“As a fan of Kanye’s work, I was thrilled at the prospect of him contributing his talents to M:I III,” said leading actor Tom Cruise in a statement.

“We wanted to take this instalment of Mission to the next level and Kanye’s music definitely added to accomplishing that goal. As we’ve done with the film, what he’s done with the Mission theme is going to blow people away.”

M:I III director J.J. Abrams also commented on Kanye’s contributions in a separate statement: “My goal is to take the Mission franchise and re-interpret it to make a movie that is familiar, but absolutely brand new. Kanye has done just that with his version of the classic Lalo Schifrin theme, and we’re thrilled to be working with him.”

The third instalment of the M:I series is due to be released May 5, and the movie also stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ving Rhames and Laurence Fishburne.
