As expected, this week’s R&B/Hip Hop single sales chart provides a clearer picture of the impact Prince’s death has had on the singer’s sales tallies. This week, just two other artists feature in the Top 10 while just one other non-Prince single, Beyoncé’s “Formation,” lands in the coveted Top 3. Elsewhere, Desiigner’s “Panda” is pushed to #13 despite selling an impressive 101,519 units and Drake’s “Pop Style,” which stood at #3 just two weeks ago, now sits at #32.
Prince’s “Purple Rain” Remains At #1
Prince’s “Purple Rain,” the title track from the singer’s 1984 album of the same name, remains at #1 this week, selling 281,692 units during the seven days leading to April 28. The aforementioned figure serves as a 132% increase on the 121,515 units the single sold the previous week.
