Toronto, ON

The Toronto Raptors allowed an opportunity to close out their quarterfinal NBA Playoffs series against the Indiana Pacers slip by them yesterday, April 29.

It wasn’t a totally let down for fans who swarmed the Jurassic Park area of Air Canada Centre, however.

Their hometown hero, Drake threw a surprise performance at halftime, seeing that he has been getting plenty of press, coming of the release of his long-awaited album, VIEWS.

Oddly enough, he opted not to go with one of the twenty songs included on his new album, instead rousing the sports fans with the more battle-ready “Energy” from his wildly successful 2015 mixtape, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.

In the end, it was the Raptors who could have used that energy, as they were blown out of their own gym, 101-83. Fans interviewed by the Toronto Star didn’t blame Drizzy for the distraction, though.

“It would’ve been awesome if they could’ve won but Drake performing was a bit of a positive,” Andrew Bortoline, 19, told The Star.

On Sunday, his squad will get a chance at redemption as Air Canada will likely be sold out for the series’ deciding Game 7.

According to Drake’s text messages, VIEWS sold more than 600,000 copies in its first night as an Apple Music exclusive. It is now available on Pandora and expecting to knock Beyonce from atop the Billboard 200.
