Chicago, IL

Ice Cube and Common are partnering for Behind The Movie: “Exploring Chicago with the Cast of ‘Barbershop: The Next Cut,’” a town hall special set to premiere on VH1 April 11 at 10 pm EST/PST, according to a press release.

“It is important to me that Barbershop does more than entertain,” says Ice Cube, who stars in and produced Barbershop: The Next Cut. “Along with comedy, the story touches on relationships and gang violence. This partnership with VH1 is the perfect way to expand this conversation.”

The two rappers will be joined by VH1 personality Sway and are scheduled to lead a dialogue with Chicago college students and organizers about gun violence, artistic expression, relationships and the importance of barbershops to community activism, among other topics.

In addition to the discussion, the program will also feature segments in which the actors visit a Chicago barbershop and other locations on the city’s South Side in order to discuss challenges of living in the Illinois city.
