Not too long ago, DX reported that Chino XL turned down an offer from Interscope. Now, the New Jersey emcee is refuting the statement, saying the misinformation came from “someone who used to work for me”.

“Just so there is no misunderstanding, I want people to know that I never said I turned down any deals from Interscope, or any of their related parties,”Chino said in a statement.

Fans shouldn’t take this statement as a sign that the rapper/actor plans to remain in the underground forever. After his next release, the long awaited Poison Pen drops, Chino plans to make another run at mainstream success.

“I am very happy to now be signed to Sway and Tech’s label, Bolo/Universal, and I am looking forward to my major commercial release, “Confirmation,” coming out this spring. I’m only putting out ‘Poison Pen’ because I have fans who want to hear it. I hope that everyone has a happy holiday season.”

Look for Chino to make a big impact on the industry in the new year, an industry that he hopes will get back to the essence of how hip hop all began.

“I hope that in the New Year, hip hop will regain a certain amount of integrity in the current overly corporate state of affairs. Hopefully, we will be able to focus on the artistry again. The machine should not be larger than the architects who create the music.”
