Despite later going 4x multi-platinum, Krayzie Bone admits that he was initially doubtful about the potential success of Chamillionaire’s hit single, “Ridin.’”

The track, which served as the second single to Chamillionaire’s 2005 debut album The Sound of Revenge, won a Grammy for the Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group at the 49th Grammy Awards in 2007.

“I did the verse and I didn’t hear nothing else about the song for like two years,” Krayzie Bone said during a newly published interview with VladTV. “It was at least like a year and half [to] two years. And then I get a call one day from my dude Play [and] he’s like, ‘Yo, we think we got one with this song you did.’ I’m like, ‘What song?’ He was like, ‘The song you did with the cat from Houston.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, word? Man, I forgot all about that damn song.’ He was like, ‘It’s getting spins, it’s looking like we gon’ need a video.’ Next thing I know, they calling like, ‘Yo, song is nominated for a Grammy.’ I’m like, ‘What?’ Then I get to the Grammys, and they’re like, ‘Yo, we won the Grammy.’ I was like, this is crazy for a song I didn’t even think was gon’ ever come out. I was tripping.”

Continuing, Krayzie Bone iterated a similar sentiment to that of the song’s producers, Play-N-Skillz, who also felt that the cut wasn’t going to blow up and reach the heights that it later did.
