This week in Hip Hop, Kanye West dominated the headlines with the premiere of his seventh solo album, The Life Of Pablo. The highly anticipated LP was initially scheduled for release on February 11 but as of publishing, the album has yet to see the light of day. Elsewhere this week, Ab-Soul expressed his frustrations with the current situation at Top Dawg Entertainment and lastly, radio personality Ebro Darden traded jabs with Rae Sremmurd’s Slim Jimmy and producer Mike WiLL Made-It over Beyoncé’s latest single, “Formation.”

Kanye West Announces Contest For Fans To Guess New Album Title

Kanye West took to Twitter earlier this week (February 8) to announce a contest for fans to guess the meaning behind the new title of his forthcoming album, T.L.O.P.

“@studio /final verses /new album title  T.L.O.P.” West wrote on the social networking service. “That’s the new album anybody who can figure out the title gets tickets to Season 3 and free Yeezys.”

It was later announced that T.L.O.P. is an acronym for The Life Of Pablo.

The album has gone through a string of title changes since being initially announced. Originally, the LP was titled So Help Me God. It was then changed to SWISH and just last month, Kanye changed it one more time to WAVES.

“‘Preciate everybody that’s been supporting me for the LONGTERM. I’m tryin man…” Ab-Soul wrote on Twitter after posting his “47 Bars” song from nearly a year ago. “I’ll be ready when my #’s called. This bench is gettin warm as fucc tho mayne. Nonetheless, it’s important to move as a unit. It’s bigger than me. It’s family. Gotta respect that.”

The label’s CEO, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, later responded to Soulo’s comments.

Ebro Beefs With Rae Sremmurd’s Slim Jimmy & Mike WiLL Made-It Over Beyoncé’s “Formation” Single

Ebro Darden of Hot 97 took to Twitter late last week to offer his two cents regarding Swae Lee’s (Rae Sremmurd) involvement with Beyoncé’s latest single, “Formation.”

Produced by Mike WiLL Made-It, the track was co-wrote by Swae Lee.

After passing a somewhat subliminal comment regarding the topic via Twitter, a back and forth broke out between Ebro and Rae Sremmurd’s Slim Jimmy. The latter went on to say that the Hot 97 anchor “is not relevant” and that he needs to motivate himself to some money.

A short while later, Mike WiLL Made-It — who’s listed as an executive producer on Rae Sremmurd’s debut album — weighed in, calling Ebro “lame as hell.”
