Freeway opens up about his kidney failure and dialysis treatments during a recent VladTV interview. Last year, Freeway was rushed to the hospital after being diagnosed with kidney failure during a routine check-up that resulted in an emergency surgery procedure shortly after.

The 37-year old Philly rapper points to an area on his arm where he receives his dialysis treatments three times a week and describes how they moved his arm’s main vein from the bottom to the top.

“When I first got it, it was hard to get used to when I went to sleep,” the Fear Of A Free Planet rapper says. “It’s all the way up here to my under arm so it’s like vibrating all the time. It just feels weird.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Freeway remembers what happened the day of his diagnosis.

“I did a routine check-in with my doctor and a couple of weeks later they called me and was like, ‘Yo, you got to get yourself to the hospital,” the former Roc-A-Fella Records rapper says. “All your levels are off. Your keratin levels are crazy through the roof. Your electrolytes is off.”

Freeway recalls looking towards his faith after being diagnosed and praying to Allah for strength.

He says the dialysis treatments have helped.

“Now that I get my treatments, I feel way better,” Freeway says. “Better than I did the week before that because I didn’t know I was sick.
