The cast of Straight Outta Compton will not be in attendance at the Oscars February 28 because they were not invited, TMZ reports.
Ice Cube, who produced the movie and was portrayed alongside the other members of N.W.A, was also not invited. The site says that the invitations are generally sent to those who receive nominations. The only recognition the Oscars gave to Straight Outta Compton was a nomination for Original Screenplay, so the writers who were acknowledged were invited to attend the awards.
Ice Cube will reportedly attend the Screen Actors Guild Awards and NAACP Image Awards. The latter nominated the N.W.A biopic for outstanding motion picture, F. Gary Gray for best director and O’Shea Jackson, Jr. and Corey Hawkins, who portrayed Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, respectively, for supporting actor.
