Chance The Rapper has raised more than $60,000 through the Warmest Winter campaign to provide coats to the homeless of Chicago. On Friday (December 25), the emcee announced the funds raised on Twitter.
“The #thirdmixtape didn’t slide down the chimney,” Chance The Rapper writes, referencing his forthcoming project. “In more important news, good people raised almost $60000 in 10 days for #WarmestWinter.”
The Warmest Winter initiative is a partnership with The Empowerment Plan, a Detroit organization fighting to end homelessness. The company, which employs homeless parents as seamstresses, hopes to expand to Chicago.
The campaign’s goal is to raise $100,000 through January 13 to fund 1,000 EMPWR coats. Each coat can be transformed into a sleeping bag and duffel bag.
According to the Chicago Coalition For the Homeless, more than 125,000 people lived in homelessness in the Windy City during the 2014-2015 school year. Part of this statistic is created through information from Chicago Public Schools, which identified 20,205 homeless students.
Upon donating, people are entered into a raffle for a variety of prizes including tickets to a Chicago Bulls or Chicago White Sox game or tickets to a Chance The Rapper performance. For donating $100 to fund an entire coat, a person receives a limited edition poster and is entered in a raffle for a meet and greet with Chance The Rapper.

still dont see what his problem was with the movie. i seen nothing wrong with it. why would jhud and angela bassett risk their reps for such a so-called movie that tells the truth about Chicago.
They should have kept the name “lysistrata” because it had nothing to do with what’s going on in Chicago. Spike Lee used the media’s coverage of the city’s violence to get his movie budget because no one was checking for the script when it was just a generic city.
I wish chance would take a chance on his big dookie butt mmmmmmm
Respect 100 for that.. You can rap about all the shizz you got but if you don’t contribute to your community in some way you don’t respect where you came from.
