Silento reportedly earned $100,000 for his “Watch Me” single, which features the whip and nae nae dance, TMZ reports.
The video for the song went live in June and has more than 500 million views on YouTube at the time of publication. Silento was in competition with The Weeknd for sales this year. At one point in September, “Watch Me” sold 82,623 units and reclaimed the top spot on Billboard’s R&B/Hip Hop single sales chart over “Can’t Feel My Face.”
The site says the 17-year-old signed a contract with Capitol Records that includes provisions for four albums. Silento is projected to earn $50,000 for his debut project and up to $500,000 for each additional LP.
