Green Label invites artists to dig through folios and discuss their favorite works. Photographer Dan Garcia recounts shooting Kendrick Lamar and others in a new story.

With “The Rookie Photographer Who’s Already Shot Kanye West And Andre 3000: Dan Garcia, Digging Through The Greats,” the rising photographer tells Green Label that it’s not photography that drives him.

“It’s more that I’m into the things that I’m taking pictures of,” Garcia says in the Green Label story. “It started at Lollapalooza. I wanted to go, but I didn’t want to pay for tickets. So I took photos at the Yeezus tour and shot them around the different blogs to portray myself as more of a serious photographer than I really was. A few sites got back to me, including Pigeons and Planes, who told me I could take photos at Lolla for them. I ended up getting photo passes.”

In the Green Label article, Garcia also talks about shooting Kendrick Lamar for the second time.

“It was for Summer Fest in Milwaukee, and even though it’s not as well known, it holds the world record for the biggest music festival,” Garcia says to Green Label. “I went with my own blog called The Early Registration. The lighting and everything was perfect, so I got some really good shots.”
