Meek Mill returned to court in Philadelphia today (December 17) for his probation hearing along with an entourage of about 40 people, BillyPenn reports.

Nicki Minaj and the Philadelphia rapper’s grandmother were in attendance, as was producer Kenny Gamble, who testified on Meek Mill‘s behalf.

“This man is not a criminal,” he said, the Associated Press reports. “Putting him in jail is not going to help at all.”

Meek Mill is expected to testify this afternoon.

Minaj testified last week for her boyfriend.

“He never purposefully goes against rules,” she said, according to Philly.com. “He absolutely wants to make this a smooth transition.”

Meek Mill is back in court to determine if his travels over the course of the year violated his probation stemming from 2008 gun charges.

Meek Mill is slated to appear in court today (December 10) regarding a potential probation violation, according to TMZ.

The site says that the Philadelphia rapper is required to get permission before traveling outside of his hometown.

The stipulation was reportedly mandated November 1 and the rapper attended the American Music Awards in Los Angeles November 22.

The MMG rapper is on probation regarding gun and drug charges he faced in 2008

In July 2014, Meek Mill violated his probation and was incarcerated for several months after the district attorney was concerned about the rapper’s behavior while he had been on probation.

The rapper had, among other things, posted a photo of himself with a firearm while on probation.
