With a newly-released album titled Top 5 Dead Or Alive, Yonkers, New York rapper Jadakiss was asked what he thought about Billboard magazine’s Top Rappers list, during an interview with Power 105.1’s Angie Martinez.
The LOX lyricist first shared his belief that Billboard was inspired to create the list thanks to his campaign for Top 5 Dead Or Alive. He later revealed that unlike some artists, he doesn’t take top rappers lists too seriously.
Jadakiss later named Eminem and Pusha T as two artists whose top rappers lists he was somewhat surprised to be on.
“I think they made that list cause my campaign was so strong,” Jadakiss said. “So, shout out to them. I think I influenced that list. And they just wanted to get—I would have been able to sue ‘em if they would have made it five, so they a little smart over there in their legal department. They made it 10, but I never get in an uproar over them lists. Some artists do and they go on social media ranting. They feel some kind of way, but I never really—I don’t know who’s making the lists. I don’t know what their criteria is…Besides that, whoever is on that list, I’m on their list.”
Although Top 5 Dead Or Alive was released almost two weeks ago, Jada revealed that fans can possibly expect the next project from him by May 2016.
“I’ll never have one of them gaps, you know, them four, five year gaps between albums,” he said. “I’m actually going to come back in six, seven months. I’m trying to come back on my birthday, May 27, 2016, with another album. It’s all about more product, more content, more music. They created that with this whole digital takeover, so I guess I gotta cater to the people. But right now, it’s Top Five. You need this in your life.”
Many may not believe, or want to accept it, but Jada does have a valid argument as far as Top Five DOA. “I’ve done a track with everyone except Mr Shakur.” Jadakiss
How is Jadakiss #T5DOA? He has solid albums, nothing classic tho… He’s a good rapper and to a degree underrated. But he’s not a game changer.
Since Jadakiss is the one that coined the phrase “Top five dead or alive” I think it is okay if he names his album T5DOA. Listen to NAS’ made you look remix for the quote.
ANOTHER BROKE NY RAPPER FOH NY . TOP 5 NI..A THE STREETS NEVER CONSIGNED THAT . NY STAY MAKING UP SH.T .

I don’t know exactly where Jada is at, but he is definitely in the top 20. One natural advantage he has is his voice. No one has a voice like that. He’s a lyrical monster. If we are talking lyrics and emceein’, he’s most definitely top 5. He personifies gritty, hardcore, New York hip hop. He’s one of the best ever. Anybody throwing shade his way needs a history refresher. He’s been in the game a while. From the B.I.G. era. The Lox is nasty. Idk. Had to show some love for Jada on here. Dude is a legend
Jadakiss is def good his albums are trash tho all some garbage bs songs guy cant make tracks and he doesnt sound legendary like the guys who r actually in the top 20 like dmx em cube nas gfk meth prodigy scarfaccce big pac etc jadas only good as a ft on Some grimyshyt thats where yu could say he shines heavy where he soundsdope.lyrically hes killa
Uh… you forgot to put the quotes about Eminem and Pusha T in the article.
Don’t know about Pusha T . But I think the Em reference would be from his song Till I Collapse where he names Reggie (Redman) as his personal favorite. This is an old reference, however.
Lyrics and being a emcee he’s definitely in top 5 also fabolous if your not talking about album sales etc usually people with amazing lyrical ability never sale a lot of albums i.e. az, kool g. rap but they get a great response because of there die hard fan base and praise for being a top notch spitter

Jada is good but not great, not even top 5 of ny. Lloyd banks, nas are just two who rip would rip him! No hate just facts
Jada will never even be top 20 to be even in the top 10 ur songs gotta consistently be good or atleast have a good album not just be good as a feature he can spit but its ridiculous for him to be in the top 10. Jadakiss albums are trash and his shyts boring on on real talk tho sometimes jadakiss comes fire with te verse (mobb deep-one of ours)and jadakiss is a good rapper. Lloyd banks on the other hand same type of rapper but is all his albums are good he can make good songs and his shits not boring and his flows unfuxwitable plks top 10
Top ten:
GZA, Cappadonna, U-God, Inspecta Deck, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface, ODB, RZA, Masta Killa
How is Too Short never mentioned in any of these top lists?
Not putting Too Short in a top whatever rapper list is like talking about the all time great basketball players and leaving out Jordan. It’s like talking about top running backs and leaving out Jim Brown. It’s like gathering a list of the top cubists and leaving out Picasso. It’s like creating a list of top dunkers and leaving out Vince Carter. It’s like making a list of senses in the body and leaving hearing off the list. It’s like making a list things in the ocean and not mentioning fish. It’s like asking someone why is it light outside and not telling them about the sun.
Don’t make no sense.
