On what would have been Big Pun’s forty-fourth birthday (November 10), Chris Rivers wrote an extensive post to his late father on Instagram today.
“It’s been almost 16 years and I still see people with tattoos of you immortalized on they flesh,” Chris Rivers writes in a posts that features a photo of him with his father. Big Pun died February 7, 2000 after suffering a heart attack. He was 28.
“The impact you left on the world will make you immortal as pun,” Chris Rivers continues in his post. “And the impact you left on mommy ( @pun_is_her ) and your daughters ( @nessyrios@star_rios) and I left you immortal in our hearts. I don’t care if it sounds corny. Love doesn’t judge. You’re this Titan in my eyes this insurmountable force as an rapper I hear stories about your legendary charisma and the way you inspired people like a king.”
Xzibit also reflected upon his relationship with his one-time Loud Records labelmate, whose logo he has tattooed on his right arm, today.

“Happy G Day to the LEGEND#BIGPUN I got this ink a week after he passed. You will be missed. Rest in Power,” Xzibit wrote on Instagram.
DJ Doo Wop, who says he went to Big Pun’s house on a few occasions, says that he was remembers the rapper’s parenting style.
“I did see a father paying full attention to his kids no matter who was there visiting etc,” DJ Doo Wop says in a comment posted on Chris Rivers’ letter. “Last time I was there, Pun had you & your sister throw on the gloves as he trained u guys to defend yourselves. Never forget that. Much love to you & the whole family. Proud of you Chris.”
Chris Rivers also says that he wanted more time with his father.
