XXL conducted an investigation into the status of every murdered rapper in Hip Hop history. Of the 52 criminal cases investigated, a staggering 36 (or 69.2%) remain unsolved, which correlates to a 30% clearance rate.

“To put that number in perspective,” XXL writes before continuing, “NPR reported this March that the national ‘clearance rate’ for homicides in the United States stands at 64.1 percent. Those numbers are so far apart they’d almost be laughable if they weren’t so sobering.”

The publication followed up on the murders of Scott La Rock, 2Pac, Biggie, Kilo-G, Yella Boi, Freaky Tah, Lil Snupe, Jam Master Jay, among others.
