Buffalo Black has been at the forefront of a budding Dallas Hip Hop scene and recently released his latest project, Surrilla.

Sitting down with HipHopDX Senior Features Writer Ural Garrett, the emcee talked about having one of his tracks featured on Spike Lee’sThe Blood Of Jesus.

“It meant everything just from the perspective of somebody that was from an admirer from far and obviously someone who is one of the greatest film directors of the modern era,” he said via a segment of today’s (October 7) DX Daily. “It was definitely something that was huge.”

Buffalo Black also spoke about his recently released project, which he calls the “antithesis” to everything that’s out now in Hip Hop.

“I really wanted to try and hammer down a narrative that was contrasting everything that was out currently,” he said. “My idea was to paint urban youth as heroes that had purpose, that had destinies to fulfill and stories to tell. The album really is the antithesis to what people normally listen to today or what they’re normally exposed to and I’m very proud of that.”
