Bobby Shmurda was scheduled to begin trial today (October 5) following his December arrest with members of his GS9 crew on weapons and murder charges. However, a judge has pushed the trial back to February 22, Page Six reports.
Shmurda’s new lawyer, Alex Spiro, made his first appearance representing the Epic Records rapper today and asked for his client to be released.
Judge James Burke denied the request. Special Narcotics Prosecutor Nigel Farinha said that Shmurda’s applications for bail had been denied four times since his arrest and that Shmurda is a flight risk because of his ties to Florida and his financial resources.
Shmurda’s bail was set at $2 million at the time of his arrest in December.
