Kanye West was lauded for his community service at Los Angeles Trade Technical College by the institution’s dean, TMZ reports.

“The contribution of the hands-on community service Mr. West has completed with our school,” the dean wrote in a letter than was presented to the court by West’s attorney, “has been of great benefit to our students and program.”

The letter was presented by West’s attorney, Blair Berk, who was in court yesterday (September 15) while wrapping up the rapper’s paparazzi altercation case.

Though not cited by name in the TMZ story, the Los Angeles Trade Technical College website lists Dr. Henan L Joof as its Dean of Student Services.

The dean also says that the rapper-producer provided 262 hours of service; he was reportedly required to serve 240.

In March 2014, West pled no contest to misdemeanor battery regarding a July 19, 2013 altercation at Los Angeles airport that was caught on tape. He was charged with battery and attempted grand theft. The latter charge was dismissed as part of his plea.
