Although many in the hip-hop community have rallied behind the comments that Kanye West made at the Hurricane Katrina fundraiser a week ago (“George Bush doesn’t care about black people”), one person is supposedly not behind the statement.

According to contactmusic.com, Usher claims that West was wrong to place blame on President Bush.

I wasn’t mad at Kanye’s statement – that’s his opinion – but it’s obviously not the opportunity or the time to poke fun or appoint blame.” He said. “This is an opportunity where we all need to come together – musicians, actors, politicians – and help the (American) Gulf region.

But other reports state that Usher in no way disagreed with the statements made by West. As a matter of fact, word is that he supports them wholeheartedly. But one thing is for sure, Usher knows that we are in a state of emergency and getting help to those who need it is the priority.
