Raekwon Says He Wants To Do A Wu-Tang Clan Biopic

N.W.A.’s biopic, Straight Outta Compton has already blown away pre-screening predictions regarding its attendance giving way to possibilities of a slew of other Hip Hop nonfictional movies.

One of the ones that would make sense would be on the Wu-Tang Clan. Recently speaking with Hot 97 during the launch of  his Diadora N.9000 collaborative shoe with Packer Shoes, Clan member Raekwon spoke about the possibility of a Wu-Tang biopic and seemed open to the idea.

“When we make a Wu movie, bet your ass its gonna be serious,” Rae said when asked about the possibility. “Because we gotta tell the truth. And I think that’s what I love about the Straight Outta Compton movie is that they told the truth. When we do get to that level and it happens, it has to be the real story. It’s gonna be an interesting one, cause I said – RZA hit the lotto one day. He knew who he had, but he didn’t know what he had. So let’s keep it right there.”

The Chef also talked about his own pending documentary and says it represents the Wu, more than just his Only Built 4 Cuban Linx album.

“It’s already in the plans,” he said. “When you think of great albums, you know, you’re looking at a lot of 20 year anniversaries coming up right now… And I think the main thing is we all get behind that. It ain’t just a Raekwon or Ghost thing. I mean it’s a whole Hip Hop legacy thing.”

    1. Some young or forgetful dudes may not appreciate members of Wu anymore, but there’s no way you’ll watch the C.r.e.a.m video and don’t wanna rap,its makes you wanna rap…wutang is still one of the best group ever,I still jam their music to date

      1. That song old as fuuuuck. You think they woulda made some decent music after that but…….NOPE! Gotta get over the past theyres more better music out there

    2. Raekwon is dead that fila album was a frisbee, shaolin vs wutang was a frisbee, Cuban links 2 was dope, immobilarity was a frisbee his original Cuban link was a classic I’ve never saw someone get this much mileage from one classic album my God he caught lightening in a bottle with the first I wish he would stop making making albums destroying his legacy and just tour off the two good albums he’s got and stop making headlines. He doesn’t have the resources to make the movie and because of his selfishness the last wu album was stalled. .

      1. LMAO, FILA! FILA IS TRASH! Albums off the top of my head that are better than FILA: Joey Badass B4 DA$$, Skyzoo – Music For My Friends, Big Sean- Dark Sky Paradise, Drake – If You’re Reading This, A$AP Rocky – At Long Last A$AP, Fashawn – The Ecology, Dr. Dre – Compton, K. Lamar – To Pimp A Butterfly, Nicolay – City Lights 3, Earlsweat Shirt – I Don’t Like Shit, Vince Staples – Summertime ’06, Tyler, The Creator – Cherry Bomb, Lupe Fiasco – Tetsuo & Youth, Wale – Album About Nothing, Vic Spencer – The Cost of Victory, Oddisee – The Good Fight, Ghostface Killah & BADBADNOTGOOD – Sour Soul, CZARFACE – Every Hero Needs A Villian etc. Look I love Rae, but there are plenty of newer artists who are consistently dropping better projects.

      1. Yep…. RZA would want to produce the movie himself. RZA is just not on that level to produce WU Tang movie by himself. He will need an establish movie producer.

    3. No thanks i did like wu but not enuff to see i biopic it’ll be about how they grew up how hard it was formed a group the love kung fu movies they’re rules how they came up with this that & the third from kung fu branched off with projects drugs odb death same old struggles no thanks just my opinion .

    4. Only a couple white boys interested. Wu biopic would only be interesting with odb. Wu hasn’t made good music since the 90’s so who cares after that. Rza is a terrible producer 8 diagrams was garbage. They need to get rid of him if they ever wanna be relevant again

      1. Yeah all the WU-Tang members will play themselves just like Easy E crawled out his grave to do his part. Dummy!

      2. Ghostface Killah has dropped four quality albums since 2013, Inspectah Deck has been a part of two great collaboration albums since 2013 and even the new Raekwon album wasn’t so bad. Then since 2000 and there’s been The W, Supreme Clientele, Fishscale, Grandmasters, No Said Date, Chamber Music, OB4CL2, Apollo Kids. Granted only one of them is a full Wu-Tang album but there’s been great music made since the end of the ’90s.

      1. Yeah, and all those horror/comedy/action/romance/documentary films etc that came out after the first few, fucking bandwagonners. And what’s with all these hip hop artists? Jumping in the bandwagon from the ’80s, jeeze.

    5. Who?
Fuck this old, washedup hasbeen. Nigga hasnt released nothing relevant in the last 20 years. The fuck outta here old man. He’s doing songs with French Montana etc these days, that’s how fuckin low he has stooped to. He’s done.

    6. Raekwon is by far the most overrated member of The Wu. OB4CL is classic and his work on the first 2 Wu albums was dope, but that’s it. OB4CL2 was good because of the production and features. He was outshined on every single track that had a feature. Average rapper.

      1. strange opinion. his work with the Wu and Ghostface is legendary and his discography is mostly great with only two mediocre albums out of 6 (immobilarity and lex diamond story).

      2. R u kidding me? His wordplay is outta control. Chef got bars for days. And immobilarity is such an underrated album.

    7. Rza can Produce and direct the movie himself he is very good look at Iron fist 1&2.

      bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    8. Wutang basically sucks now unless performing the classics lol. Try and tell me
A better tomorrow was 10 percent as good as 36 chambers or wutang forever. You can’t cause that shit sucked. Wutang doesn’t need a biopic they’re too irrelevant and were overrated. If they make a biopic then he’ll, make one for black hippy, and and rap group for that matter. Yawn

      1. yeah, because Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy E, MC Ren, and Yella were all super relevant in hip hop in 2015 before the Straight Outta Compton movie dropped. Cube hasn’t had good music in years, Dre hadn’t released an album since the change of the century, Eazy’s been dead for two decades, and Ren and Yella were never extremely popular to the masses.

      2. You don’t know shit Maybe Wu-Tang doesn’t make music as consistently good nowadays but the game has changed. But to say they were overrated is ridiculous, you obviously didn’t listen to hip hop when they were in their prime. They have had a ton of his. Some one 20 years old probably wouldn’t remember. There are legends in the game and you just lost your right to even comment on hip hop with that non-sense remark.

    9. The Wu story is serious, of course it needs a biopic. Everything from RZA’s failure in the music industry, his organising of each member, the masterplan to break through the industry.

      1. Not if it’s anything like that TERRIBLE Tribe documentary. They’re just a boring bunch of dudes. They made dope music in their time, but they were never particularly polarizing or interesting. There’s only a few rappers/rap groups who’s stories are interesting enough to make into a film. Wu is one of them.

    10. They can’t even get together to agree ona album, the film(s) would have to be a rebooted shared remake universe reimagining

    11. Im fuckin 36 and I agree with dude about A Better Tomorrow. That album was wack. Eveybody knows it. Just cause its a WU album all the hardcore heads have to give there two cents but no one bumps that shit. That album is wood

    12. It will probably be sirectes by Quentin Tarentino and have old chinese kung fu music for the soundtrack lol

    13. These niggas need to hang it up and move on. No1 cares about these bums besides the old head hipster rags still stuck in the 90’s wearing baggy clothes acting like loses. Do the world a favour and retire.

      1. Wow. How could u ever speak ill of the WU? Seriously. U know nothing of hip hop. Ur name reflects that. They revolutionized hip hop. Period.

    14. won’t happen. these niggas have a hard time putting together an album imagine a movie. too much internal conflict

    15. What you fools don’t understand, is that if you’re 30 and over, and you’re still fitting in with the young new kids, then you’re not a fuckin’ grown man. You’re supposed to NOT fit in with the young crowd when you’re a Man. “They’re not relevant any more ’cause they don’t make any new hits”. That’s like saying Robert Deniro is not a good actor because he’s not in a new Hunger Games movie or some shit. Once you’ve built your legacy, you don’t have to ‘fit in’. You already etched your name in stone, it’s up to the new dudes to establish their own legacy.
