The biopic for N.W.A.’s history will be viewable later this week and since, the cast has been speaking with numerous media outlets about both the group and its legacy.

Recently speaking with HipHopDX Features Editor Andre Grant, the trio representing Dr. Dre, Eazy-E and Ice Cube in the movie spoke about how Straight Outta Compton should raise social awareness.

“Hopefully we just rally a consciousness in that people just start bringing it up because it’s definitely the elephant in the room if everyone’s scrunched up,” Jason Mitchell (who plays Eazy-E in the film) said via a segment of today’s DX Daily. “Something should be said.”

The group also says that their latest movie is one that’ll create conversation just like the rap quintet their acting as did decades ago.

Straight Outta Compton the album was the straw to stir the drink and [Straight Outta] Compton will do the same thing,” O’Shea Jackson Jr (the actor portraying Ice Cube) proclaimed.

Straight Outta Compton is slated to hit theaters this Friday (August 14). Dr. Dre recently released his third solo studio album, Compton, which HipHopDX gave a 4.5 rating to.
