Tupac, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Pharrell, Pusha T and more of Hip Hop’s elite have seen part of their popularity come with a rising and sustained interest in their visages. Artists and illustrators have thus taken their imagery and remade it through the power of their creativity and imagination. Green Label.com has done the heavy lifting of shining a spotlight on their respective crafts. “The first fan art coincided with the rise of television and was dedicated to the nerdy sci-fi shows which dominated pop culture at the time,” according to Green Label

Artists covered include Brad Beatson, who is now Art Director over at Passionoftheweiss and peaked the interest of both Kanye West and Jay Z with his cutesy illustrations based on their lyrics, and the legendary Andre Leon Davis who held his post at The Source for 17 years.

Other illustrators listed by Green Label include Freako Rico who’s responsible for Action Bronson’s Mr. Wonderful album cover, KashmirVIII, Mike Hinson, flames.jpg, and Jeffrey Paige’s brand of hyper-realism.
