The deaths of two women at last weekend’s Hard Summer Music Festival in Southern California has officials considering a ban on music festivals that take place on Los Angeles County property.

Billboard.com reports that a moratorium on the music festivals is currently being pushed by Los Angeles County supervisors.

“Los Angeles County supervisors are considering banning music festivals from county property after the weekend deaths of two teenagers at an event in Pomona, California,” Billboard.com writes. “Supervisors on Tuesday (Aug. 4) ordered the county’s chief executive to look into a moratorium.”

The two women who passed away on Saturday (August 1) at the Hard Summer Music Festival were 19-year-old Katie Dix and 18-year-old Tracy Nguyen. According to Billboard.com, they both died of drug overdoses.

In addition to the deaths of Dix and Nguyen, 29 festival attendees were treated for drug or alcohol-related problems, with two people later sent to the hospital.

At last year’s festival, another woman, 19-year-old Emily Tran, also died from a possible drug overdose. According to LA Weekly, sheriff’s officials believed Tran turned up positive for signs of methamphetamine and ecstasy use.
