Tragedy in Hip Hop strikes far too often whether it be through violence or random death.
Toronto rapper Redway has reportedly become the latest tragedy the Hip Hop world has to deal with. According to CP24, the emcee born Shane Redway, along with three other people, fell victim to a tragic car accident earlier today (August 1) in the Greater Toronto Area. According to reports, the car occupied by the Toronto native lost control, crashed into a guardrail and burst into flames near Pearson International Airport.
“At this point, we are looking at every option,” Const. Kerry Schmidt told the news network. “We don’t have any indication [as to what caused the crash] from direct witnesses, so we are appealing to any witnesses that may have seen the vehicle prior to the collision to come forward and speak with police.”
Redway was an up-and-coming artist from Toronto who released an project called Years Ahead last year. He had planned to not only be on top of the Canadian Hip Hop landscape, but the international one as well.

Drake paid tribute to his fellow Toronto rapper on Instagram. He says he saw Redway at an event prior to his death.
“Should have told you yesterday I was proud of what we had both done for our city over these years,” Drake writes for the caption of a picture of Redway with a mic, “and I didn’t cause there were too many chairs and too many people in the way. A lesson to anybody second guessing. Rest easy king.”
HipHopDX sends its condolences to Redway’s family and friends. We will keep you updated on the developments of this story.
