This week, Drake and Meek Mill’s highly public feud continued to rule the conversation as Drizzy released two diss tracks in the form of “Charged Up” and “Back To Back Freestyle.” Meek Mill appeared to respond to both of these through subliminal tweets after his own diss record failed to debut on Funkmaster Flex’s Hot 97 radio show. Elsewhere in Hip Hop this week, 50 Cent revisited his rivalry with Jay Z and offered an update on his Street King Immortal album.

Drake Releases “Charged Up” In Response To Meek Mill’s Ghostwriting Claims; Meek Mill Appears To React

Earlier this week, Drake released “Charged Up” in response to Meek Mill’s controversial accusation that Drizzy doesn’t write his own raps.

“I’m honored that you think this is staged,” Drake raps on the track. “I’m flattered, man / In fact, I’m amazed / The perfect start to the summer, man this shit is a doozy.”

“I see you niggas have trouble going gold,” Drake raps on “Charged Up.” “Turning into some so-and-sos that no one knows / But so it go / Come live all your dreams out at OVO.”

Shortly after “Charged Up” hit the Internet, Meek Mill took to Twitter to offer a response.

50 Cent Reflects On Jay Z Rivalry

During an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra’s DJ Semtex, 50 Cent reflected on his rivalry with Jay Z. The rift came to a head when Fif’ released Curtis on the same day that Kanye West released Graduation. At the time, Jay Z was president of Def Jam, the label that released West’s project.

During the conversation with DJ Semtex, 50 Cent says that looking back, he wouldn’t have made the same decision.

“It didn’t make sense to do it at that point, but I was out there on my own,” 50 Cent says. “Kanye had the full support of Def Jam because Jay as the president at that point was feeling he was in competition with me, so they were doing everything possible to get that record positioned the right way. They outspent money on the promotions. They beat us in a lot of different ways prior to the number.”

50 Cent also gave an update on his forthcoming album, Street King Immortal.

“I’m going to start putting some of the music out,” the rapper says. “I want more of it to come out so people can hear it and kinda get excited about it because I could say all kinda things and people go, ‘Ok, let us hear it. Let me feel what you’re talking about instead of just hearing it, hearing you say that.’ I think it’s great. I think the record is good. I think the people will see the vulnerability in some of the material that I’ve created and won’t even expect some of the musical choices.”
