Killer Mike has been an outspoken proponent of fairness when it comes to police’s dealings with its citizens in the United States. He has also brought attention to Hip Hop’s place in social issues today.
Recently, the Adamsville, Georgia native announced that he would be running for Congress in Georgia. His slogan was “If I win, we win.” Now, it looks like Mike is unable to make a run for office in 2015, however that isn’t holding him back from making a difference in future elections.
“I can’t run BUT For the folks that were willing to Write in #MichaelRender Thank U so Much. I am gonna run one day and WE WILL WIN,” he relayed via an Instagram post. “However in Ga I wud have to officially enter as a “write in” vs being an Actual Write in (those are the breaks) but, I really felt it important to draw attention to this race. We have BIG Problems in education, schools and prison reform in Ga and I I wanna see change. I wanna see Yall active in Local politics.”
Killer Mike continued by thanking all of his supporters and says he isn’t done when it comes to politics. He also hopes people in Georgia will vote for him as a write-in candidate.
