Fetty Wap seemingly came out of nowhere when he dropped “Trap Queen,” his most famous hit to date, and it’s because he did. The Patterson, New Jersey native wasn’t a name before this year, but in 2015 he’s bringing in the platinum plaques and now, the first award he has ever received.

Recently pulling in Music Choice’s MC100 Award of 2015 for his breakout single, Fetty recently spoke with the cable channel and told them about the special recognition.

“This [is] actually the first award I’ve ever won, I mean doing [anything],” he said when asked about winning the award, choking up. “This is crazy. I never won nothing in my life before. Thank you everybody.”

“Trap Queen” peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Fetty Wap also received recognition by making the cover of XXL’s Freshman Issue earlier this month.
