Sage The Gemini has the distinct ability to create hits. From his yesteryear classics like “Red Nose” and “Gas Pedal” to his newest batch of Top 40 singles, the HBK member has been able to get his name out there through his knack for recognizing and executing melodic harmonies and catchy hooks.

Recently speaking with HipHopDX’s Ural Garrett, the Fairfield, California native spoke about his most recent hit “Good Thing,” with Nick Jonas.

“Working with the Max Martin camp and stuff like that came [about was they] came out to L.A. and we worked with them and it was nothing but great, fresh vibes,” Sage said via a segment of today’s (June 10) DX Daily. “Coming into that and me being who I am, I came in humble as possible with getting in the game and really the acknowledging thing that I was supposed to do so this wouldn’t be my first and last [time] and hopefully I could be on their level one day.” He also detailed how they decided on Nick Jonas for the song.

“They showed me the beat, I put my creative process in the rapping, they put in their influence to make it Top 40 type stuff and we put it together and it came out with a beat that I feel like we weren’t going to let go for a while. I was like, ‘Damn, we need someone to feel this record.’ And they were like, ‘Who?’ They came up with Nick Jonas and I was like, ‘Y’all can do that?’ And they were like, ‘Yeah,’ I was like, ‘What?’ [laughs].”

Sage The Gemini released his debut solo studio albumRemember Me in March of last year. In 2013 he signed with Republic Records and since, “Red Nose” and “Gas Pedal” have recieved Platinum certification.
