Lil Durk is in an interesting position lately as numerous high profile people he knew passed away.
As a member of French Montana’s Coke Boys label, the Chicago native did have a relationship with recently gunned down rapper Chinx. In a recent interview with HipHopDX’s senior features writer Ural Garrett, Durk talked about recent advice French gave him about dealing with death.
“He was just saying don’t keep your expectations high,” Durk said in a segment of today’s (May 27) DX Daily. “He said just be humble about it and continue to work.”
Back in March, Lil Durk’s manager Chino Dolla was killed. And while Durk has had to deal with a lot of death in his life growing up in the streets of Chicago, he explained he has to keep moving when situations are tough.
“When it first happened they kept me in a box,” he recalled. “I was talking with my big brother. [We were] staying up, and once he started talking we stepped outside of that room, it became real. Work mode, we came back for other people and it was down so we definitely got to keep our spirits high and keep working.”
