Following the death of Chinx Sunday (May 17), various members of the Hip Hop community have taken to social media to pay their respects to the Far Rockaway, Queens artist.

Incarcerated rapper Max B, co-founder of Coke Boys Records with French Montana, recently spoke on Chinx’s passing from New Jersey State Prison.

“[This] shit is just senseless,” he says during an interview with REVOLT. “Ain’t even no explaining it, man. We all going through our shit. It’s another bad day. It’s a bad look. It’s bad, man. We lost another young, inspiring brother trying to do the right thing, trying to stay off these streets and feed his family. For such a senseless tragedy to occur, every time that shit happens that shit just push us back another twenty years. It just feels like we ain’t learning, man. We the people ain’t learning. These young niggas out here they ain’t learning nothing. No father figures. They shooting first. [It’s] just senseless, dawg.

“I love Chinx,” Max B continues. “I’ma miss him. Rest in peace. I just wanted to put that out there [and] send my condolences to his family, his girl, his Moms, his Pops, French [Montana], the whole crew. I went through this with Stack [Bundles]. This another sad day, man. This shit took us back another 30, 40 years. Niggas ain’t learning nothing. We dying for nothing. We killing each other, dawg. Shit gotta stop. We gotta do better than that, man.”

Later in the conversation, Max B opened up about his friendship with Chinx.

“I don’t know if people realize how close we was and shit,” Max B says. “Like we all used to be in my crib, French, me, him. I’d be with Chinx everyday. Chinx used to spend the night at my joint. We used to be making music and shit. People really don’t hear us on songs together because at that time he used to come stay in my spot, I was on trial, so I was going through my own shit. I was stressed out. I wasn’t really making no music when I had started trial. So that’s the only reason people don’t hear us on songs together.”
