Charlamagne On Lil Wayne’s Bus Shooting: “I Love It”

Charlamagne Tha God says that he enjoys reading headlines about rappers getting shot at, including Lil Wayne’s recent tour bus incident.

‘I love it. I love it, man,” Charlamagne says in an interview with DJ Vlad. “I get tired of hearing these muthafuckas just talk. You know what I’m saying? Like, you’re dissing Young Thug right here. Young Thug’s saying things right there. Somebody do something. Aren’t ya’ll supposed to be gangsters? If you’re gonna be bout it bout it, be bout it bout it.”

Charlamagne references the rift between Lil Wayne and Young Thug, as an example of a rap feud that could elevate.

“If somebody got shot or killed, I would have said, ‘That’s fucked up,’” Charlamagne says. “That’s not what Hip Hop is all about. Since nobody got shot or called and the only thing that hurt was the bus, ‘Hey man, do that shit some more.’ I like those kind of headlines. Shoot it in the air sometimes. Just make me think that shit can get real. Don’t you get tired of these rappers talking about it and not being about it? Like back in the day, you know there were real rappers that got shot and really had beef. Now rappers are all Instagramming…have a fistfight or something. Back in the day Source Awards used to get it popping. Suge Knight had someone swing on Dr. Dre at an award show. G-Unit stabbed a muthafucka.”

Charlagmagne says the recent riots in Baltimore are in example of doing something really big to cause a reaction, which he fully supports.

“To me it’s the same thing with the riots, cause an effect,” Charlamagne says. “Back in the day, you said some crazy shit about somebody, the effect was somebody was gonna come see you. Now we don’t know how a muthafucka may react, but sometimes it’s just good to see a reaction. Niggas don’t even rap anymore. To diss you, they use to come up with bars. They don’t even do that no more. Stop talking. If you ain’t gonna fight, if you ain’t gonna shoot, if you ain’t gonna stab, if you not even gon rap, then shut the fuck up.”

    1. Ignorant clown for MTV. Did you see this guy spooning with another man on a couch on MTV on Catfish? This guy will say anything to try and make himself look good in the eyes of other ignorant people like him. He did make some of the illest beats for Natural Elements and others in the 90s but now he’s simply an MTV clown and seems fake as fuck.

    2. A man you know you are a fake ass nigga you just be talking niggas don’t know how you look nigga you ain’t in da streets you hide behind the mic but nigga I hear you talking but talk is cheap nigga you don’t know this hustle quit being a lame fuck nigga always doing shit to start shit #ATL

    3. Exactly Charlamagne that’s exactly what hip hop is all about nigga. I’m totally with u “if there is no fight no rap no shooting or stabbing they might just shut the fuck up as well” cause there is no beef.

    4. He’s clearly being sarcastic however in his sarcasm he is basically saying if you’re not doing what you talk about in your music (stabbing, fighting, or killing) then stop talking about it.

    5. It’s the era of the fa99ot now. It’s sad what hip-hop culture has become when you really think about it.
