Last November, OG Maco felt the wrath of Beyoncé’s social media fans (b.k.a. the Beyhive) when the “U Guessed It” rapper accused Bey of stealing his concept for her “711” music video.

During a recent interview with VladTV, Maco says he wasn’t really attacking Beyoncé, instead he was using a “secret tactic” to expose their hatred.

“The one thing I wanted to do is show how much hate is involved in Beyonce’s fans,” he says to Vlad. “I meant what I said about the video having a bunch of characteristics of my work…But the finesse was I wanted the Beyhive to talk shit to me. I wanted them to try and tear me down. I wanted them to try and make me look like shit.”

The Atlanta-bred-artist explains that he used the ploy to show how regardless of race and unity, Bey’s fans seem to always come to her defense.

“How is the Beyhive going to act like I’m trash but Beyoncé stole my concept?” he says.

Later in the interview, Maco calls the Beyhive a cult, because he feels “people blindly follow whatever she’s doing.”
